Yasaman Haghbin
Yasaman Haghbin is a PhD researcher at KU Leuven, with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Her research focuses on developing decolonized, just, and trustworthy foundation models for healthcare, with a particular emphasis on assessing freezing of gait (FOG) severity in Parkinson’s disease across clinical settings and everyday life.
From a technical perspective, she is interested in self-supervised learning, foundation models, and representation learning for human movement analysis. She explores privacy-preserving approaches that leverage video-derived pose data and, where available, wearable sensor data to develop robust and generalizable AI models. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and participatory research, she aims to advance equitable, transparent, and trustworthy AI solutions that support clinically meaningful assessment and improve healthcare for diverse populations.
